Spectral geology

Workers interested in using mineralogical data with with their geological and geophysical data may be interested in CorStruth which is designed to provide automatic interpretations of the HyLogging data from every HyLogger-3 datset acquired as part of the AuScope National Virtual Core Library (NVCL) program.

HyLogger uses visible and infrared light to characterise selected minerals from drill cores, chips and pulps that are often difficult or impossible for human observers to interpret correctly. Reflected light from the samples is broken into hundreds of different wavelengths by several spectrometers, allowing the recognition of unique spectral signatures for each mineral.
